Golf / Networking Opportunity
The all inclusive price for the Golf
Tournament is $155.00 member or $170.00 non-member, which includes
bucket of golf balls at practice range, 18 holes of golf, a pull cart, a
half way sandwich with a beer/soft drink, pro shop services, access to UBC member facilities/shower, and the Grand Buffet Dinner & Auction.
Tee times start at 10:50 AM either scramble format or individual callaway
scoring.

For those who enjoy a summer's day on the water we've again retained the
good vessel Summer Sun for SKAL Fishing, boarding at 10:00am and
returning 3:00pm, from the usual place at the Westin Bayshore Marina,
foot of Cardero St.

As in last year, hopefully delicious fresh caught bar-b-q crab for
lunch, along with the usual sandwiches and other goodies. We also hope
to continue the tradition of morning coffee and snacks. Drinks for the
regular SKAL tickets (available onboard) or cash.
We need a minimum of 20 to guarantee this price, so GUESTS, are more
than welcome.

SILENT AUCTION
We are asking all SKAL Members if they would be willing to donate an
item for this significant and special function. As in our past auctions,
in order to maximize our fundraising, we ask that the donation have a
minimum value of $25.00. If a large item is donated, and a Company
minimum cost is attached, i.e., taxes, outside costs, etc., please
notify Phil Storey to register a reserve bid on the bid sheet in order
to recover your costs.
All donations will be written up on a bid sheet showing Company name,
retail value and a brief description of the item. To give all Members
and guests advance notification of the items to be auctioned, we will
publish a list on the Vancouver SKAL web site.
Let’s aim to surpass our total of 2008. Your donation would be
appreciated.

As there are many steps to be taken in preparing for the auction and we
ask that all donations/commitments be received no later than May 29th,
2009
Proceeds Raised
Proceeds from the Skal Golf Tournament go to manage the club, and aid in
our contribution of thousands of dollars annually to fund tourism
scholarships. This assistance is provided to deserving students enrolled
in full time tourism management programs.
History of SKAL
SKAL is a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world,
promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international
group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry.
SKAL International today has approximately 22,000 members in 500 Clubs
throughout 87 nations. Most activities occur at local levels, moving up
through National Committees, under the umbrella of SKAL International,
headquartered at the General Secretariat in Torremolinos, Spain.
Membership is by induction only, with candidates nominated by their
peers. Its members, the industry's managers and executives, meet at
local, national, regional and international levels to discuss and pursue
topics of common interest.
Vancouver SKAL Club
The SKAL International - Vancouver Club has been in operation for over
53 years, and was just recently voted “Skal Club of the Year” for Canada
for the third consecutive year. Members include Hotel General Managers,
Airline, Transportation, Attraction, and tourism executives from over
100 tourism companies in the Vancouver area.
